* Five real seats, four doors and all the access and modularity of a hatchback.

For its motor show debut in Shanghai, DS5 appears in a one-off livery as the Citroën DS5 White Pearl. The cabin features ebony-coloured full-grain leather, contrasting subtly with silver-flecked overstitching. Interior detailing includes decorative inserts in Markassa ebony and a highly reflective fascia, created by applying several layers of lacquer. DS5 White Pearl also sports specially designed 20-inch alloy wheels.

There is an oversized air intake, a large chrome-finished grille housing the chevrons and a new LED light signature. A distinguishing feature, DS5 boasts chrome-finished ’sabre’ inserts stretching from the top of each headlamp to the windscreen.

The rear design takes Citroen DS5’s on-road presence to yet another level. The car stands firmly on wide tracks, emphasised by two tail pipes built into the rear bumper and highlighted by a rear signature featuring six light guides.

One of the driving modes available will be Auto that just like the one found in other similar car, it manages to switch between the diesel power unit and the electric motor in order to optimize fuel consumption. For driving the vehicle on electric mode with the 37 hp (27 kW) electric motor, you’ll have to select the Zero Emission Vehicle mode and you will be able to drive the car at speeds of up to 37 mph. Picking Four Wheel Drive means that the DS5’s front wheels are going to be powered by the diesel engine while the rear wheels will be motivated by the electric motor. Lastly, for an improved engine response achieved by maximizing the use of the conventional diesel engine as well as the electric unit, you can choose the Sport mode. source:www.zulva.com,www.rpmgo.com

Renault Koleos launched in Andhra Pradesh!

Renault, the French auto company launched its Koleos SUV yesterday in Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad. After its separation with Mahindra & Mahindra, the company has already come out with two new models in India, namely the Koleos SUV and the Fluence Sedan which both fall under the luxury class. According to reports, the firm has also got plans to launch a small car along with two new models in India by the year 2012.

The firm stepped into the country through a tie-up with Mahindra & Mahindra which ended in April 2010. After this, the firm was alone on Indian soil and introduced the Fluence Premium Sedan in May. “We are highly optimistic about the product and are confident it will cater to the needs of all the customers, who are looking for a premium SUV,” said Len Curran, vice president (sales and marketing), Renault India.

“We have plans to launch five cars in the Indian market by the end of 2012,” he added. Out of these five cars, two are the Koleos and Fluence. Now remains three new cars out of which one will be a small car.

Hyundai introduces Santa Fe automatic for Rs. 24.36 lakh

Hyundai have introduced an automatic variant of their Santa Fe SUV. The auto transmission system is a six-speed unit and is prices at Rs. 24.36 Lakhs, Ex-Showroom Delhi. Now that’s not cheap, but if Renault can try the antic with their Koleos, why cannot Hyundai. So what if the price tag puts the vehicles in the league of the BMW X1 base variant. Hyundai is confident of its product. In the Auto variant, the Santa Fe also features a keyless fob, and push button feature.

Santa Fe comes equipped with a 2.2-liter CRDi engine producing 197 bhp of peak power and 430Nm of torque. Currently the Santa Fe is being brought to India as a CBU, hence the high price. If Hyundai could somehow manage to assemble the car here, and reduce the price, it would look like a more reasonable product. Most of the sales in this segment coming Hyundai’s way would be by virtue of the absence of good Automatics with a diesel hart. The situation will change once Toyota introduces the Fortuner automatic.

Range Rover Evoque coming this November: Images, and all the details

Land Rover’s mercilessly beautiful baby SUV, the Evoque, which breaks new ground for the British carmaker is terms of design and technology will hit the Indian roads this November. The popular variant for the diesel happy Indian car buyers would be the Range Rover Evoque SD4. Powered by a 2179cc inline 4 diesel engine, the Evoque SD4 will boast 187bhp at 3500 rpm and aboput420Nm of peak torque produced at 2000 rpm. The engine will be mated with a 6-speed auto, which although not as brilliant as the DSGs or other modern auto trannies adopted by the BMW-Audi-Merc trio, would do a reasonable job of putting the power to the tar.

The Evoque is a compact SUv, smaller in size than even the Audi Q3. Unlike the traditional Landies which are square, hefty and brawny, the Evoque is sleek, sophisticated and chic. The seating position is more car-like too, unlike the bigger Land Rovers whose driver’s seats are no less than a throne with a commanding view of the road-empire ahead.

The Evoque will feature a sci-fi gear knob emerging from the center console, ala Jaguar. The car will also have what LR calls the Terrain Response off-road system which tunes the car’s chassis, suspension, engine and transmission to tackle a certain type of terrain more adeptly. There is a Dynamic mode too which lets you tune the Evoque into a nifty handler for times when you are treading smooth twisties, away from the ruts and the slush. That’s for the times when you want the Evoque to hold its line. Interestingly, the instrument backlight turns red as you slot the car into Dynamic mode.

Unlike what appears from the visuals, the Evoque’s cabin is quite a spacious with plenty of head and leg room for both driver and rear seat passenger. The elongated glasshouse which extends all the way up to the D pillar ensures that the Evoque’s cabin feels like a spacious and airy place to be.

The Evoque is a trendy looking machine, which boasts all the qualities of a genuine Land Rover. It can do some serious off-roading while still acting in the most civilized manner on the road. But most of all, the Evoque is unlike anything else on the road when it comes to styling. It’s a sensationally good looking vehicle, and is capable of turning heads where similar specced BMWs and Mercs will fail miserably. It’s truly got a character which is unmatched by any other vehicle not just in its class but across the entire range of automobiles.

Land Rover is planning to price the Evoque SD at around Rs. 49 lakh, which is quite optimistic. However, the Evoque is well equipped, is an accomplished off-roader and looks like a million bucks. For those who crave for class and exclusivity, we’re sure this will be a buy!

2011 Citroen Survolt

Specifications prices Modifications and Image 2011 Citroen Survolt concept
Citroen Survolt Concept is the continuation of Citroen's exploration of distinctive and original electric vehicles, initiated with the Revolte concept car revealed at 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Citroen Survolt Concept turns received notions on their heads through its radically new vision in a consummate blend of high-fashion glamour and extravagance with motor-racing punch.

The desire to overcome one's limits, take things further, dare and create is written in Citroen's DNA. Breaking with convention, shaking up the rules, shifting borders and surprising continuously is the passionate quest and leitmotiv of a brand that over its 90-year history has never ceased to develop innovative objects ahead of their time. Citroen Survolt Concept is one of these. It takes the genetic material of Revolte and adds an extroverted sports dimension to the mix.

Like a luxury accessory that transcends an outfit, Survolt Concept is Citroen's answer to an automotive universe that all too often seems morose. Citroen Survolt Concept casts aside protocol and transgresses existing codes to initiate a new kind of stylish, sporty and elegant supermini. Bucking current trends and pointing to the future of sleek coupés, it unites elegance, glamour and sporting passion, sublimating this last quality with its electric drivetrain.
 INTERIOR
Survolt’s cockpit is designed like a floating cell, a glass setting held between chrome-finished roll bars like some magnificent piece of jewellery. The leitmotiv with Survolt is to transgress the conventions of the luxury world and combine them elegantly with those of the sporting world.

The cabin was imagined as a cross between two worlds that by their essence are opposed. This union begets an organic universe, both flowing and technical, from which the driver’s station springs forth. The interior as a whole was designed to bring the two occupants comfort and refinement, triggering singular pleasure and an outstanding experience.

The car’s generous glazed area brings light and a sensation of space, light years from that offered by today’s sports cars.

EXTERIOR
With its compact dimensions - 3.85 m long, 1.87 m wide and 1.20 m high - Citroen Survolt Concept reappropriates sports car styling cues to form an all-new and revolutionary concept.

At the front, the distinctive vehicle badge reigns elegantly above the large oval-shaped grille, its centre home to the striking double chevron. The car's "look" - charming and profound at the same time - attracts and holds the viewer's gaze with a promise of transgressions suddenly made possible. Its slim, horizontal head lamps, inspired by high-performance sports coupés, exert a magnetic appeal, while an LED light signature adds a contemporary, high-tech touch.

Citroen Survolt Concept was made to gobble up the miles and glide over roads. Low-slung and sleek, it features strong contrasts between the voluptuous bonnet and generous, sculpted flanks, highlighted by emphatic wheel arches that promise performance and thrills.

Citroen Survolt Concept's air-slicing, flowing design is heavy on excitement and sensuality. It conveys agility, precision and vitality, barely containing a powerful, well-defined musculature under refined ined musculature under refined and luxurious wraps. The rear features the elegant light signature of Revolte together with a spoiler in an essential reference to motor sport.

Citroen Survolt Concept is innovative and powerful but also knows how to turn on the charm, revealing its finest assets to catwalk in motor sports arenas. It features two-tone paint, hues of fuchsia and charcoal grey, and plays with materials and volumes. The curves shift from satin-smooth to shiny, breaking definitively with the classic masculine codes of the sports world. Citroen Survolt Concept continues the work begun with Revolte by once again blending two universes with contrasting appearances. Citroen Survolt Concept eschews decorum to create its own styling language.

The inclusion of materials such as chrome and aluminium inevitably recall the spheres of luxury goods and motor sport. Citroen Survolt Concept is a perfect combination between high fashion and car racing, a unique alliance with the same philosophy and the same cues as Revolte, namely performance, cutting-edge technology and excellence.

Skoda Superb facelift caught testing

Skoda’s Superb has been ruling the D-segment ever since it arrived on the horizon. With an exceptionally long features list, exceptionally high legroom, exceptionally good interiors and an option of both petrol and diesel engines, the competition hasn’t quite been able to match up with the Superb’s virtues. It has, however been more than three years since the new Superb was launched internationally, and the car is now due for a mid-life facelift.

While the features, options and interiors of the car are contemporary enough and more than a match for its segment, the car requires some nip and tuck to keep its appeal intact. Skoda designers seem to have changed the front bumper, headlamps and a few other things to give the Superb a fresh looking face. Similar treatment has been given to the rear. The area between the front and rear fenders has been left untouched though, as evident from these spy pictures. The car may also get some tweaks to the interiors.

The areas where the cosmetic changes have been made have been duly camouflaged. However, these still are the first ever images of the facelift to have hit the Internet. Have a look, and do let us know if you can make something of it.

BMW confirms X4 production, slim details emergeBMW confirms X4 production, slim details emerge

Premium automakers are hell bent on designing and manufacturing SUVs and crossovers of every perceivable shape and size, give it a fancy name and try and distinguish it from the others to boost their sales. Just have a look at BMW’s SUV line-up – X1, X3, X5, X6 and now the company seems to have decided to shove in another model in the lineup-the X4. As the name suggests, the new SUV will try to fit in somewhere between the X3 and the X5.

So how would the X4 be different from the rest of the lineup? Well, we guess BMW will try to give a very distinctive face to the X4 for starters. Secondly, the X4 may just turn out to be a mini-me version of the bigger and more expensive X6. With a coupe like roofline and other idiosyncrasies associated with the X6, the X4 may just present itself as a stylish, lifestyle crossover for those who prefer form to function.

Expect the new car to share its underpinning and engines with the recently introduced X3. Pricing would again be somewhere between the X3 and X5.

This is what the US of A wants to replace the Humvee with!

So, you thought the Humvee was the ultimate machine you could park in your garage to go anywhere as and when you wish? The Us of A doesn’t concur with you anymore. The good old Humvee seems to be in for a replacement. If some reports are to be believed, the Humvee will soon be replaced with the L-ATV, a light combat all-terrain machine built by the good blokes at Oshkosh Defense.

The Humvee was quite a sucker for fuel, just like all old American vehicles. The good news is, the L-ATV won’t tread the paths of the Humvee in terms of fuel consumption. The L-ATV will go the whole-hog in terms of technology being powered by a diesel-electric hybrid, trying to make even the last drop of fuel available in its tank push it a few more meters. The fact that it’s a diesel, should only help its off-roading capabilities thanks to the gargantuan torque it’ll produce. Expect the world’s most powerful defense services to have nothing but the best on this planet for a go-anywhere capability. A re-inforced shell, capability to thwart landmine dangers and artillery attacks is a given. Add to that unmatched 4×4 capabilities and a suspension travel which is 25% more than the best US military vehicles in service, and you have a military machine which will be capable of taking on the worst terrains in the world.

Does it cut the mustard for you? Well, we don’t have any more pictures than the one you see here, nor do we have any more details. We do, however, feel that the good ol’ Humvee is a little too old in the tooth. Do let us know if you would approve this mean looking thing if you were Barack Obama to kick the backside of them bad terrorists. Get commentin’ people!
