2013 Volvo S60 | Review, Price, Specification

Specification Modification Image Review Price Information 2013 volvo s60

If boxy sedans and wagons are indicative of Volvo’s past, the stylish and surprisingly sporty (in certain trims, anyway) Volvo S60 may just be the brand’s roadmap to the future. Not only is there an emphasis on design, both inside and out, but there’s also an edge to the S60 that Volvos of the past have lacked. Billed at its 2010 launch as the “naughty Volvo,” the S60 looks to satisfy those with a passion for driving as well as a passion for safety.

That it does so in a wrapper that looks as good as the S60’s sheet metal is just the icing on the cake. We’d go so far as to say that the S60 is the first Volvo you’d consider buying because of its styling, not in spite of it, and we’ll admit to being fans of the car’s gracefully flowing exterior lines. In range-topping R Design trim, the S60 even looks the part of a luxury sport sedan, which isn’t something we could say for Volvos of the past.

The S60 comes in two models, a front-wheel drive T5 or all-wheel drive T5 or T6 sedan. Included on the T5 is a turbocharged 250-hp five-cylinder, the T6 includes a turbocharged 300-hp 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Both are matched with a six-speed Geartronic automatic transmission. The T6 R-Design includes a turbocharged 325-hp 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Chassis equipment includes dynamic stability traction control (DSTC) with advanced stability control, and corner traction control with torque vectoring. Safety features include Pedestrian Detection with Auto Brake, City Safety, whiplash protection front headrests (WHIPS), anti-lock brakes, and six airbags. Sirius satellite radio and Bluetooth are standard. The T5 includes T-Tec cloth upholstery, the T6 has standard leather upholstery. Optional equipment includes a glass moonroof, navigation system, an upgraded premium audio system, rear seat entertainment system with dual DVD players, and xenon high-intensity headlights.

Safety
City Safety, Volvo's system designed to lessen the severity or prevent altogether a low-speed rear-end collision with another vehicle, is standard.

Along the same lines as City Safety is the optional Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, which warns the driver of an impending rear-end collision and can automatically brake the car. Optional Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake can automatically brake the car to avoid hitting a pedestrian when traveling at low speeds. Additional options include Lane Departure Warning, a blind spot monitoring system and a backup camera. Standard safety features include:
  • Four-wheel-disc antilock brakes
  • Side-impact and side curtain airbags
  • Traction control
  • Electronic stability system
  • Active front head restraints

2013 Toyota GT 86 | Review, Price, Specification

Specification Modification Image Review Price Interior Exterior 2013 Toyota GT 86
Toyota's eagerly awaited, compact 2+2 sports car, the GT 86, makes its European debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

On sale throughout Europe in the summer of 2012, the Toyota GT 86 is an entirely driver-oriented vehicle. It gives form to the pure, intrinsic joy of driving through precise, instantaneous response to even the smallest throttle or steering inputs, for those who regard driving as a passion rather than a necessity.

With a low, highly aerodynamic bodyshell stretched tight over the engineering hard points, the new GT 86 is based on an entirely new platform. Shunning a heavy, large displacement powertrain for its performance, the GT 86 returns to Toyota's sporting roots with the world's only combination of a compact, front-mounted, free-revving, horizontally opposed 'boxer' petrol engine and rear-wheel drive.

This unique powertrain format combines with the world's most compact four-seat design, light weight, low inertia and a low centre of gravity for the best possible power-to-weight ratio. These attributes award the GT 86 lively, accessible performance, highly engaging, readily exploitable dynamic abilities with minimal electronic intrusion, and maximum driving pleasure.
Conceived to focus specifically on the purity of the classic sports car experience, designed by a passionate team of engineers, honed through competition and fine-tuned to satisfy the most discerning enthusiast, The GT 86 inherits the spirit of former Toyota sports cars to reward drivers with pure driving involvement.

The GT-86’s interior is as sporty as its outside with a flat-bottomed steering wheel with its very own red stitching. It measures only 365 mm, the smallest yet fitted to a Toyota and has been finished in buckskin finish. In addition to that, the GT-86 also has aluminum pedals, a navigation system, gauges that light with red neon, digital readouts, and a gray instrument panel that seamlessly molds into the darker dash. The car’s cockpit is further reinforced by carbon effect trim, a sporting, all-black roof lining, red upholstery stitching, and aviation-style rocker switchgear. It comes with a large tachometer that offers at-a-glance visibility and readability during sports driving. The front seat has also been designed to offer great comfort, as well as to prevent elbows from interfering with gearshift operation.

The new Toyota GT 86 measures just 4,240 mm long and only 1,285 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. It offers a near-perfect, 53:47 weight distribution and a center of gravity of only 475 mm.

The Toyota GT-86 is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-four engine, the result of a joint development between Subaru and Toyota, combined with D-4S technology (direct injection combined with port injection). With separate twin injectors for both direct and port injection, and a high compression ratio of 12.5:1, D-4S increases power and torque over a wide range of engine speeds without sacrificing fuel efficiency and environmental performance.

In the Toyota model, this engine will only deliver 200 HP at 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 151 lb-ft at 6600 rpm, but Subaru has promised a total of 300 HP for their version. That being said, the base BRZ will come with the same 200 HP that the new GT-86 is sporting, bringing these two models closer than originally anticipated. Subaru’s promised 300 HP will be present in the STI version, leading us to believe that a G-Sports variant for the GT-86 will bring forth the same amount of power.
This engine will be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The manual will offer quick and precise shifts with a short-throw, while the automatic transmission will feature sporty shifts controlled by steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifts. Power will be distributed effectively to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.

Even now, its styling appears sophisticated, cool and fresh. During the development of the GT 86, a 2000GT was put next to the clay model of new sports car being developed by the designers. Without receiving any specific instructions, the designers continued their work, occasionally looking at the 2000GT. As a result, their work infused the Toyota GT 86 with the spirit of the 2000GT without imitating it.

From the AE86, the GT 86 inherits not its hardware, but its spirit. The AE86 was not an extreme sports car. It was moderately priced, with a mass-produced engine and a compact, front engine, rear-wheel drive body.

The Corolla Levin AE86's front engined, rear-wheel drive powertrain, compact dimensions, light weight, impeccable balance and superior power-to-weight ratio made it the must-have choice for rallying and circuit driving throughout its 1983-1987 production life.
A genuinely lightweight machine which offers the intimacy and involvement of a car that can be driven as if it were an extension of the driver's body, the Toyota GT 86 perfectly recaptures the exhilarating spirit of the last Corolla Levin AE86 and, with numerous customisable parts, shares its aim to be an affordable car that evolves with its owner.

2013 Chevrolet Spark | Review, Price, Specification

You may call the 2013 Chevrolet Spark "unique" without upsetting defenders of the English language. "Unique" means "one of a kind," so "very unique" is poor wording, and describing an item as "unique" when there are other things like it is wrong.

The Spark is Chevy's new A-segment mini. Three other cars sold in the U.S. compete in this size category, and none is like this Bowtie A-car. It certainly has none of the cartoonish character of the Fiat 500, and it's more than $3000 cheaper than the op-art design, two-door hatchback Scion iQ, a car surprisingly substandard in its driving dynamics, especially for a Toyota product. The only competitor that comes close to the Spark's $12,995 price is the Smart Fortwo, a two-door two-seater that serves as a strong argument for the commuter biking movement.

The Chevy Spark, which goes on sale in August or September, is the only four-door hatchback in the A-segment with reasonably comfortable space for four adults. It is unique. A pure electric version is scheduled to hit the market next year.

The rear seat, with cupholders dividing left from right, has generous headroom and pretty good legroom, with a necessarily short seat cushion. The car is tall: one inch taller than the already upright Sonic B-car. With the Spark's rear seats up, there's not much more cargo space than in the Fortwo. But who combines grocery shopping with double dates? Flip and fold the rear seats and the Spark offers 31.2 cubic-feet of volume, Chevy says.

That's why Chevy offers the Spark with a rather large 7-inch touchscreen MyLink radio bereft of a CD player. Like the MyLink units in other Chevrolet vehicles, it can run apps when paired with a smart phone. Pandora and Stitcher are available at launch and Chevy is promising a special navigation app later this year, called BringGo (not to be confused with Bringgo.com, which appears to be selling counterfeit products from China). We got to sample a preproduction version of the mapping software running on an iPhone during the 30 or so miles we drove, and it not only looked great but performed perfectly, including restarting its guidance after we turned the car off and temporarily undocked the phone. We are firm believers in using portable navigation technology and glad to see Chevy adopting this solution rather than spec-ing a dedicated nav unit.

Bonus then for the Spark: It's actually a real car. At 144.7 inches long, the Spark is within two inches of the Mini Cooper hardtop, and its 93.5-inch wheelbase is almost two inches longer than the Mazda MX-5 Miata roadster. But the Spark is over three inches narrower and almost half a foot taller than the Mini. (For those of you who might have dropped freshman Physics in favor of something less math-y, short and squat is as desirable for handling as it isn't for getting a date.) At 11 cubic feet, cargo capacity isn't huge, but it's better than the others in this class. On the plus side – pun intended – the Spark's EPA passenger volume of 86 cubic feet is fairly huge, topping the Ford Fiesta hatchback, which is ostensibly a class up in the B-segment.

So Chevy is pitting a bigger car against littler ones. Indeed, the Spark is some two feet longer than the iQ and has five inches on the 500, yet its powertrain is remedial compared to its classmates. The Spark's 1.2-liter four-cylinder (actually 1249 cc, the extra 50 cc being a concession to U.S. market tuning) employs variable valve timing to make all of 84 horsepower and 83 lb-ft of torque, meaning that with a curb weight of 2,237 pounds, each of the Spark's horses has to move almost 27 pounds of weight. By comparison, the Fiesta's ratio is only 1:21. Both the iQ (94 hp, 89 lb-ft) and the 500 (101 hp, 98 lb-ft) offer more power and torque, and the accompanying better power-to-weight ratios, as well. source:motortrend.com,autoblog.com

2013 Ferrari 458 Spider | Review, Price, Specification

The Latest CarsThe new Ferrari 458 Spider joins the 458 Italia, widening the range of Ferrari's mid-rear engined V8s and offering the same uncompromising technological solutions, handling and performance in a refined open-top configuration. It is equipped with a Ferrari patented, fully retractable hard top, a world first for a sports car with this lay-out.

The Ferrari 458 Spider is powered by Ferrari's 570 CV 4,499 cc V8 which was named International Engine of the Year 2011. The power is transferred to the road by Ferrari's class-leading dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission through the sophisticated E-Diff, itself integrated with the F1-Trac traction control and high-performance ABS for maximum handling dynamics. The car delivers 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h.

Certain features, such as its accelerator pedal mapping and the damping of the multilink suspension, have been calibrated to guarantee maximum sportiness and absolute driving pleasure with the top down, in line with Maranello's exclusive spider tradition. Even the engine soundtrack has been honed to ensure that the car's occupants are completely captivated by the drop-top driving experience.

The 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider delivers 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h. Entirely in aluminum, the hard-top solution adopted for the 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider offers a number of advantages over the traditional folding soft-top, including a reduction of 25 kg in weight compared to Ferrari F430 Spider and a deployment time of just 14 seconds. Fully integrated into the styling of the car, the 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider hard-top was engineered to fit neatly ahead of the engine bay without compromising aerodynamics or the performance of the car. The small space needed to house the roof enables the designers to include a generous rear bench for luggage behind the seats.

2012 Toyota 86 GTS | Review, Price, Information

Toyota Australia has dramatically redefined the concept of an affordable sports car with the arrival of its eagerly awaited Toyota 86 coupe.

Designed to delight driving enthusiasts, the compact and aerodynamic four-seater sports car is priced from an amazingly low $29,990.

The 86 marks a return to Toyota's sporting roots with the world's only combination of a front-mounted, free-revving, horizontally opposed "boxer" petrol engine and rear-wheel drive.
This unique powertrain format, combined with a compact design, light weight and a low centre of gravity, produces the best possible power-to-weight ratio.

These attributes will reward 86 owners with maximum driving pleasure - lively, accessible performance and highly engaging dynamic abilities with minimal electronic intrusion.
Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing Matthew Callachor said Toyota was determined to ensure the great handling and performance of the 86 would not come with a hefty price tag.

"The 86 is meant to be enjoyed by as many driving enthusiasts as possible, and our pricing will extend its appeal to people who never imagined they could afford such a fun car," Mr Callachor said.
"Toyota has created something that people have wanted, but didn't exist - a compact, light, basic sports car with balance and handling rated in the same league as some legendary sports cars," he said.

The GT 86 is a genuinely lightweight machine that offers the intimacy and involvement of a car that can be driven as though an extension of the driver's body. In this way, it perfectly recaptures the exhilarating spirit of the last of the AE86. And, with numerous customisable parts, its shares its predecessor's aim to be an affordable car that will evolve with its owner.

2013 Lexus LS 460 | Review, Price, Specification

With its dynamic handling, bold new design and superior craftsmanship, the 2013 LS flagship models hail the future of the Lexus brand as it embarks on its third decade in the premium luxury category. While retaining many of the qualities that have defined Lexus for more than 20 years, the LS reaches new heights with an exciting blend of beautiful design, modern refinement and advanced technology.
The 2013 Lexus LS line-up includes the LS 460, LS 460L, LS 600hL hybrid, and the first-ever LS 460 F Sport. LS 460 and LS 460L are available in RWD and AWD. The LS Hybrid is available with a full-time AWD system.

The all-new Lexus LS 460 F Sport combines a more aggressive exterior with a unique sport interior featuring F Sport seats with larger bolsters, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters and genuine aluminum trim. With a sport tuned air suspension that has been lowered 0.4 inches, a Torsen® limited slip rear differential (RWD model), Brembo six-piston caliper brakes, and 19" forged wheels with summer or all-season tires, the LS F Sport promises to be the most engaging LS ever.

The entire 2013 Lexus LS lineup is refined with dynamic, fresh styling that reflects the bold new face of Lexus. The aggressive spindle grille gives the new LS a greater road presence and stronger brand identity while heralding a significant improvement in driving dynamics, responsiveness and handling.

The 2013 LS lineup will consist of the LS460, LS460L, LS600hL hybrid, and the LS460 F-Sport. Both the LS460 and LS460L will be available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The LS600hL hybrid is available with a full-time all-wheel drive system.
As for the F-Sport model, we’ve already seen the more aggressive exterior, while the interior will feature F-Sport seats with larger bolsters, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and genuine aluminum trim. The sport-tuned suspension lowers the vehicle 0.4 inches, while a Torsen limited-slip rear differential is installed in the rear-wheel drive model. Six-piston Brembo brakes peek behind the 19-inch wheels.

Plenty of new features are seen in the new 2013 Lexus LS models, including the Advanced Illumination System (AIS), which is an all-LED interior lighting system. Lexus Climate Concierge is also available, which is a customizable system that uses multiple sensors to automatically regulate the temperature inside the cabin. The system also works with the climate control seats and heated steering wheel.

Also, a massive 12.3-inch, split-screen, high-resolution multimedia display is seen in the dash, allowing wide viewing angles for driver and passengers.

The Lexus LS was already giving models like the Audi A8 and the Mercedes S-Class a run for their money, but with its new updates, the LS will provide an even bigger challenge.
The Mercedes S-Class is also preparing to enter a new generation, but if Mercedes doesn’t step up to the plate, the S-Class will continue to miss the mark on the elegance and refinement of a high-end luxury sedan. One good thing to come out of the S-Class is its vast engine choices, but willi t be enough to compete against the new LS?

On the other hand, we have the Audi A8, a model which recently entered its third generation. Unlike the S-Class, the A8 is a very elegant car, with a great exterior look and a highly refined interior. It comes with a 4.2 FSI V8 engine that delivers an impressive 372 HP and, unlike the LS, can go up to 155 mph.source:netcarshow.com,topspeed.com,autoguide.com

All-new Cerato, to be called ‘K3′ in Kia’s home market of South Korea, will also boast improved quality, upgraded equipment, a more spacious cabin and a revised engine line-up that delivers class-leading fuel economy.

After going on sale in Korea later this year, the all-new Cerato sedan will appear at Kia dealerships in many overseas markets during the first quarter of 2013.

2012 Brabus and smart 10th Anniversary Edition

Hard to believe, but BRABUS and Smart have been building cars together for 10 years now. Worldwide, more than 50,000 customized cars have been built by the team. To celebrate, the two are producing just 100 specially-equipped cars.

The 10th Anniversary model starts with a smart fortwo BRABUS with the 102hp turbocharged engine. The car is then slathered in liquid silver paint and given titanium-look headlamp surrounds and red BRABUS logos.
The anniversary model, which is being produced in a limited edition of 100 vehicles, is based on the current smart fortwo BRABUS production model with 75 kW (102 hp) and maximum torque of 147 Nm. It has a top speed of 155 km/h, sprints to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and offers driving pleasure as a standard feature.

The tridion safety cell, bodypanels including front grille and the door mirrors of the “10th anniversary” edition are painted in liquid silver, as are the front spoiler and side skirts in the styling package. Further exterior features include titanium-coloured headlamps and red BRABUS logos at the front and rear.

The interior of the “10th anniversary” edition is characterised by a black leather interior with high-quality hand stitching. The trim parts are painted in an exclusive red and the contrast components and seat console come in black. Cruise control is regulated via the BRABUS sports steering wheel, and the starter button is integrated in the gear shift lever knob. A badge with the serial number (xx/100) draws attention to the fact that this is a limited edition.

The equipment of the “10th anniversary” edition is orientated to the smart fortwo BRABUS and standard features include the comfort and light package, heated seats, electric power steering, LED daytime driving lights, audio and navigation system and BRABUS Monoblock VII alloy wheels in matt grey.source:lincah.com, autoblog.com
