COPO stands for Central Office Production Order and was originally used by dealers in the 1960s to build Camaro models not otherwise available.
New details for 2014 include a "heritage" grille, new exterior graphics choices, a revised interior package with custom carpet, a dedicated racing wiring harness, revised front springs and a transmission cooler integrated with the radiator. The COPO Camaros are available in Black, Summit White, Victory Red, Silver Ice Metallic and Ashen Gray Metallic.
The 2014 production run will be offered with two new engines and a new manual transmission to make the car eligible for a broader range of NHRA Stock Eliminator classes, said GM. Engine choices include a 350-cubic-inch V8 rated at 325 horsepower; a 396-cubic-inch V8 rated at 375 hp and a range-topping 427-cubic-inch V8 rated at 425 hp.
Buyers can participate in the engine assembly at Chevrolet's Performance Build Center in Wixom, Michigan.
Production is scheduled for April, with deliveries starting in early summer. Customers must take delivery of the car in the Detroit area, where the COPO Camaros are built. Buyers are chosen at random by a third-party organization starting on March 11.
