The new Dacia Lodgy MPV has been given its official world debut at the Geneva motor show today. Available as a five or seven seat MPV, the Lodgy MPV is the latest addition to the growing model range from the Renault owned Romanian brand. The line up already comprises the Duster crossover, Sandero and Sandero Stepway supermini and Logan saloon, seven seat estate, van and pick up.

Seven years ago, Renault revived the Rumanian Dacia brand by entering the first model (Logan) in the affordable segment on European markets. Dacia is part of Renault’s Gamme Entry, which also covers the Dacia models that are sold as Renault in countries such as Russia and Egypt. There, Renault uses its own brand name for the budget models, because in emerging market its image is not hurt by doing so.

Lodgy is stamped with Dacia’s trademark DNA: unbeatable value for money, reliability and practicality. Measuring 4.5 metres in length and 1.75 in width, Dacia Lodgy’s contours and proportions above all reflect its size and strength. With the grille moulded around the Dacia logo and sharp lines that highlight the sculptured wheel arches, Lodgy provides a preview of Dacia’s new corporate look. Optimal use of Lodgy’s generous external dimensions has created a roomy interior, with the result that each of its seven seats can accommodate a passenger in total comfort. The third row features class leading space in terms of knee and head room (144 and 866mm respectively), which is more than enough to seat two adults comfortably. The two rearmost seats are equipped with Isofix fittings, so that child seats and booster cushions can be attached safely and securely. Lodgy’s modular interior is particularly versatile. In seven seat configuration, the third row bench seat can be removed completely or else folded up against the front seat backs, depending on the requirements of the moment.

2013 Renault Dacia Lodgy Price :
To promote the Lodgy MPV, Dacia has created this 355bhp, four wheel drive, ice racing version, which has been driven by Formula 1 legend Alain Prost in the Andros Trophy series. If it does come to Britain, expect the Lodgy MPV to follow the wallet friendly pricing scheme set by the manufacturer’s other products. It should be pitched substantially below the £17k asking price of rivals such as the Renault Scenic and Citroën C4 Picasso.

Price of 2012 Dacia Lodgy are € 9.900. With a price of about € 9.900 considered very cheap for this type of this car. Dacia Lodgy, an MPV for European buyers, will make its world debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show. Renault’s Dacia brand is not sold in the U.S.

2013 Renault Dacia Lodgy Interior :
Dacia Lodgy features a brand new multimedia system: MEDIA NAV. Competitively priced in the brand’s tradition, at an unbeatable €430, MEDIA NAV incorporates a radio, auxiliary sockets (for MP3 players, etc), Bluetooth connectivity and satellite navigation via a seven inch (18cm) touch sensitive display. The main menu permits simple access to six essential functions: radio, media, telephone, route map, satellite navigation and settings. Thanks to Bluetooth® technology, drivers can make hands free telephone calls and synchronise their contacts book and previous call registry. It is also possible to audio stream remote music players through the car’s own speaker system.

Furthermore, there is the option of connecting an iPod or smartphone through USB or jack sockets located on the dash panel. They can be operated via either the touch sensitive display or the steering wheel mounted controls, while track titles are displayed on the MEDIA NAV screen.

This system features a new radio with large screen, an MP3 compatible CD player, Bluetooth® technology, dash mounted USB and jack sockets and steering wheel mounted fingertip remote controls. Dacia Lodgy incorporates another feature that is new to the Dacia range a speed limiter, available on higher trim specifications. This device permits drivers to programme a maximum speed they do not want to exceed, enabling journeys to be completed in stress free safety.

2013 Renault Dacia Lodgy Exterior :
With a length of just over 177 inches, the Lodgy really suits people who need a large and economical family car. It offers huge luggage space of 29 cu ft., which that can be extended to 92 cu ft. Mr. Jeager continued: “Our business model is aimed at offering the best quality/price relationship. We work with net prices and a low margin. This means there is no room for deals. But chasing more stars in the EuroNCap, such as for improved pedestrian safety, is a costly affair. This does not only increase the prices of the cars, but also increases the weight. The Lodge weighs only 2.767 pounds, which reflects in excellent fuel economy.”

The main aim of this utility vehicle is to provide loads of interior space for a family along with their luggage and the external dimensions have created a roomy interior. In the 7 seat configuration the manufacturer claims that the third row delivers class leading space in terms of knee and head room. The interiors are versatile and in the 7 seat configuration the third row bench seat can be removed completely.

For the first time in the history of the Trophée Andros, the series will feature an MPV. To spice up the new season, not just one but two Lodgy Glace entries will be on the grid for every race: one will be driven by Alain Prost, who finished as runner up in the 2010 and 2011 Trophée Andros, at the wheel of a Dacia Duster Glace. The other Lodgy Glace will be shared by his son, Nicolas Prost and Evens Stievenart, Alain Prost’s team mate and joint winner of last winter’s Superfinal at the Stade de France, Paris.

2013 Renault Dacia Lodgy Engine :
Driving the Lodgy proved to be a surprise. Do not expect luxury equipment such as power seats and the latest technology. But finding the right position behind the steering wheel is easy, the seat is excellent. In the cabin you may not expect more than hard plastic, but the build quality is really o.k. ABS with emergency stop and ESP with traction control are standard on all variants, while suspension and engines come from well known Renault models. For instance, the 1.2 liter TCe petrol engine recently made its debut in the renewed Mégane.

On the bad Moroccan roads, the suspension performs well and evens out the potholes and bumps. But the comfortable ride has some body roll in corners as a down side. Comfort is enhanced by a low noise level, thanks to good sound insulation. Steering is good and obedient, while the engines I drove all variants perform well. We had to make several emergency stops, that proved the braking is also good. The two petrol engines on the Renault Lodgy are the 1.6-litre MPI and the new turbocharged direct fuel injection engine producing 115PS. The direct injection engine represents Renault best petrol engine technology yet and has received strong reviews for being refined and fuel efficient. There will also be a diesel engine delivering 90PS and another producing110PS.

Dacia Lodgy is available with a selection of petrol and diesel engines that will suit the needs of customers in all the countries where the model is marketed. There are two petrol engines: the 1.6 MPI and the new, turbocharged TCe 115 with direct fuel injection. The TCe 115 represents the Renault Group’s very best petrol engine technology, including the turbocharged, direct-injection combination first introduced with the Mégane and Scénic Collection 2012 line-ups. With its 1.2 litre capacity, but the kind of performance more usually associated with a 1.6, the TCe 115 combines an impressive driving experience with excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. There are also two diesels, both based on the 1.5 dCi block that has received worldwide acclaim for its reliability and performance. The dCi 90 and dCi 110 powerplants qualify for the Dacia eco² signature a symbol of low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. source:autocarrelease.com
