Wordpress CMS is another open source which is popular among the users. I would say it is in between Blogger.com and Joomla CMS since it doesn't have a lot of folders and files like Joomla and lesser features than Joomla but it has more functions than Blogger.com. I also have notice that quite a lot of people are using Wordpress as well.

Even though Wordpress seems to be the best to choose among Blog and Joomla, it still has the negative and positive points, it's natural that almost everything has both bad and good – nothing is perfect. Therefore, I will list out the pros and cons of using Wordpress below so that you will be able to consider whether to choose it or not.
Advantages of using Wordpress to build your website:
  • Free platform since it is an open source
  • Less files, so it loads faster
  • A lot more features than Blog
  • Plugins are mostly free (i.e Wordpress works with plugins)
  • SEO friendly by using plugins
  • Users are manageable like Joomla
  • A lot of free great templates and easy to change it
  • A lot of helps too since many people use it

Disadvantages of using Wordpress to build your website:
  • Need a web hosting like Joomla (i.e if you choose not to use wordpress.com as main domain. You can use yoursite.wordpress.com, but your website will have a long address.)
  • The template positions are fixed (i.e A professional may know how to fix as wanted, so you may need to hire someone if you want to have more positions)
  • You must update the site's source often since it is updated frequently
  • It's difficult to change the templates' appearance as you wish (i.e unless you are professional at it.)
  • Security concern (i.e if you do not have your site up to date and have some security function, hackers can get into it easily.)

My Recommendation, choose Wordpress if you:
  • Are willing to invest some money to start up
  • Have some substantial contents
  • Want to run it as a business level (i.e Many big medias' websites also use Wordpress, it's all depending on your skills, how you can change it.)
  • Have some knowledge of PHP since almost all the files are in PHP
Regardless of those pros and cons, and the recommendation above, if you want to know how it is, you can still try it out without loosing any penny. You can choose to use sub-domain, like www.yoursite.wordpress.com, and learn how to use it first so that if you want to make it for real, it would be easy. I will have tutorials step by step showing how to use Wordpress and build your website in both written and video format. So, check them out and build up your knowledge!
