It's no secret that the midsize crossover segment is one of the most hotly contested battlegrounds in the automotive industry. Long have vehicles like the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 duked it out for those ever illusive consumer dollars. For many customers, though, even something like a Nissan Rogue is too big, whether in terms of price, fuel economy or just plain size.
For those customers, a growing market segment seems poised to fulfill their needs. Compact crossovers and tall wagons like the Nissan Juke and Kia Soul offer the high-riding driving experience with all the utility that comes from their two-box layout. It's an underrepresented segment among manufacturers, with big names like Toyota, Ford, General Motors and Honda lacking a true competitor. |

To capitalize on this growing class, Chrysler's Jeep brand has readied this: the Renegade. That's right. Not Jeepster – Renegade. This diminutive off-roader, which rides on Fiat Chrysler's new small-wide 4x4 architecture, represents Jeep's first foray into the subcompact CUV segment as we know it, and it's making its official debut this week, on the floor of the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Join us as we take a close look at one of Jeep's most important products in some time.
Its diminutive size is inherently cute (even if the design will polarize or flat-out repulse the Jeep faithful), but Jeep leaders in America have ensured that at least one version can withstand a dirty flogging on a mountain. Base models will be front-wheel drive, but full-time 4x4 ("Jeep Active Drive") will be available on all models. A rear axle that disconnects when not needed for traction promises improved fuel economy. The range-topping Trailhawk edition is built to endure serious off-road duty, featuring a taller ride height and clearance, 17-inch wheels, hill descent control and a 4WD system with lower gearing designed for slow scrambling up steep surfaces. |

All 4WD models offer Selec-Terrain dynamic modes that optimize traction for snow, sand, mud and, on the Trailhawk, rock crawling.
The Jeep Renegade will offer a choice of four-cylinder engines: a turbocharged 1.4-liter rated at 160 horsepower or a larger, non-turbo 2.4-liter good for 184 hp. The smaller engine comes with only a six-speed manual transmission, while the 2.4-liter pairs with a nine-speed automatic, similar to that on the Jeep Cherokee.
At about 16 inches shorter and 2 inches narrower than the Cherokee, the Renegade becomes the smallest Jeep in the lineup. Still, it will offer many of the same features found on upper-level Jeeps, including a smartphone-integrated infotainment system with 5- and 6.5-inch touchscreens, a 7-inch configurable gauge display, and driver aids that include a rearview camera, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and forward collision warning. The Renegade even borrows a cue from the Wrangler, allowing the outside in with dual sunroofs. |

Safety-wise, the Renegade will offer the first collision warning system in a Jeep; it’s also the first Jeep model with lane departure warning. Blind spot monitoring is also available. The Renegade includes seven nairbags, including a driver’s knee airbag, seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax airbags, and full-length side-curtain bags.
Available features will include and a Uconnect Access system that will provide 911 emergency services, a remote-access phone app, and on-demand wifi hot-spot capability. Jeep says that the system’s seven-inch, fully configurable instrument cluster is the largest of its type in the segment. The top Uconnect system will now read text messages and send dictated messages. SiriusXM Travel Link provides real-time traffic updates, local fuel prices, and weather conditions, plus other info services.
At this point there’s no word on pricing and trim levels other than those top models; we’ll update this page with more as soon as those details are announced. source: autoblog.com, thecarconnection.com, edmunds.comsuch information from us about the 2015 Jeep Renegade may be useful for you. and if you want to look for your new car
