This widespread labor unrest has widely affected the production of various models. The company recently announced that it would continue with the production of the SX4 sedan at the Manesar plant despite of the ongoing unrest. In order to help boost production, the firm has taken up the assistance of various temporary workers and around 120 technicians escalating the work force to a total of about 1500. The firm managed to produce 725 units of the Swift with combined production at both the Manesar as well as Gurgaon facility. <p style="text-align: justify;">Since the 29^th of August, the workers at the Manesar plant have been on strike and seem to be in no mood for compromise. The unrest was sparked when the firm dismissed close to 950 workers who allegedly caused serious quality related problems. The management now demands the workers to sign a good conduct bond before reinstatement. Workers in the unrest are however not in favor of signing the good conduct bond which is at the moment not letting the manufacturing facility see good times. in the mean while, the firm has decided to commence the production of its SX4, A-Star and Swift models at the Manesar and Gurgaon plants.</p>

The new diesel engine will be replacing the current 2.0-liter oil burner unit, which again is a Fiat sourced mill. Now more news on the engine options of the second-generation version of the car is emerging. Seems like a 1.4-liter K-series (K14?) engine will replace the current 1.6-liter VVT unit. <p>The new engine will be marginally less powerful than the 1.6liter powerplant, but will be more fuel efficient. The new engine will produce 95horses and 130 Nm of twist, as against the 1.6-liter’s 102bhp and 145 Nm. The new engine would not just be more fuel efficient, but would also be more driveable in city conditions.</p> <p>All said, we still think at 95PS of power shouldn’t be enough to pull the heft of the heavy SX4 with reassurance, unless the engine is really a gem. Let’s hope it really is.</p>

It is no secret that the company is plonking in the 1.3 litre Fiat sourced diesel engine into the car with 90PS and 200Nm of torque. However, the pictures of the diesel car hitting the interweb is definitely news. <p>ACI has managed to scoop the pictures of the new car parked at one of the dealerships. This means that the car is on schedule for its mid-February launch. Good thing is that unlike the Swift and Dzire, Maruti Suzuki is not going to bereave the SX4 diesel from the top of the line ZDi variant. Its notable that the Swift and Dzire are not available in ZDi trim, and can be bought only in the VDi trim-level.</p> <p>Maruti Suzuki is saying that their car will better the Manza and Linea which run the same engine in terms of both performance and fuel efficiency. The car will be cheaper than the Vento by a substantial margin. Expect a price increase of around Rs 70,000 over the petrol version.</p>
