Changes on the car include new colours, new interiors, a more powerful gasoline engine and even greater fuel efficiency of 25.4 kmpl, further improving on its record as India’s most fuel efficient petrol car. The car is already available at dealerships, at the same price as before. <p>The key feature changes for the new Nano are</p> <p>• More fuel efficiency at 25.4 kmpl<br />• New interiors<br />• New exterior colors<br />• More engine power<br />• More engine torque<br />• Booster brakes for even the standard version<br />• Lowest CO2 emission, among cars in India</p> <p>The 624cc engine of the Nano will now deliver 38 Ps of peak power against the 35 Ps power of the earlier version. The Peak torque too has gone up from 48 Nm to 51Nm. What comes as a bonus is that the fuel efficiency has gone up too to 25.6 kmpl from an earlier 23.6 kmpl as certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The high fuel efficiency, with a low kerb weight of 600 kg, ensures that the Tata Nano at 92.7 gm / km has the lowest CO2 emission among cars in India.</p> <p>Tata Motors have also worked on the exhaust note of the car, which earlier sounded more like a small diesel commercial vehicle than a car. The Nano CX and LX now have internally adjustable mirrors on both the driver and passenger sides. For the Nano Standard, which already has a driver side mirror, the passenger side one can be installed as an accessory. </p><p>The interiors too have been thoroughly enhanced with better look and feel. The Nano LX now features luxurious beige interior, the Nano CX a rich black tone and a medium graphite color for the Standard version.</p> The exteriors are now available in 10 colours, eight of them new — Pearl White, Rouge Red, Aqua Blue, Neon Rush, Serene White, Meteor Silver, Mojito Green, Papaya Orange, Sunshine Yellow, and Champagne Gold. The interiors comprise dual-tone vinyl seats and fold-down rear seat.</p> <p>Tata Nano CX: The Nano CX comes in six colour options — Rouge Red, Champagne Gold, Neon Rush, Meteor Silver, Papaya Orange and Serene White. The interiors have been refreshed with trendy black fabric seats, ebony black interiors, fold-down rear seat with nap rest. Besides these, the variant offers best-in-class air-conditioning with heating (optional), parcel shelf, booster-assisted brakes, tip-tap mirrors on driver and passenger side and half wheel covers.</p> <p>Tata Nano LX: The top-end variant comes loaded with features like premium beige fabric seats, central locking, door handles, front power windows, cup holder in front console, provision for 12V socket, body coloured bumpers, fog lamps, electronic trip meter, rear spoiler, full wheel covers and tip-tap mirrors on driver and passenger side and booster-assisted brakes. At this price, a B segment can be purchased or (more surprisingly) this much money can easily purchase two top end versions of the Nano in it’s parent land.</p> <p>“<em>A lot of people came to us for booking at the fair. At least 23 people confirmed their interest, but we’ve deferred launch of Nano at the last moment as we’re seeking a re-look at the price, which some say is too high.”</em>” told Abdul Matlub Ahmad, director of Nitol Motors.</p> <p>Not just the Nano but even other small cars produced by foreign companies such as Maruti are significantly much more expensive in Bangladesh as importers have to pay a whopping 132 percent of tax on every import.</p> <p>Nano has the potential to become very popular in the neighboring nation as the little Tata promises to reward its owner with a very low fuel consumption.</p> <p>Very much like us, Bangladesh has seen a substantial fuel price increase during the past few years coupled with the Bangladeshi government withdrawing the subsidies. Nano would have been a promising product in the Bangladeshi product had it not been plagued with the taxes and resulting high purchase price.</p>

Some interaction happened between Tata Motors and Mumbai Commissioner of Police after which one car has been kept by Mumbai Police to carry out trials.</p> <p>“We use motorcycles to do patrolling in narrow lanes in the city. However, Nano car has more than one advantage, while it takes less parking space as compared to other Sedan cars, it can replace bikes as far as doing night patrolling is concerned and weapons can also be stored in the duct of the car,” said a senior police officer.</p> <p>Nothing concrete has been decided yet though, and a decision will be taken only after taking into consideration the suitability of the vehicle for the job.</p>
