Just when the car had started doing average numbers, Mahindra XUV500  arrived and played the perfect party crasher. To make the deal sweeter,  Tata decided to introduce a low cost version by dumping the 4 wheel  drive system and that did help with improving the sales but nothing  spectacularly. Now, to attract potential customers, dealers are offering  a massive discount of<span class="WebRupee"> Rs. </span>2 lakhs.The  discount package includes a cash discount of as much as Rs.1.6 lakhs and  remaining sum is being offered as exchange bonus. However, the bad news  is that this offer is valid only for this month and this most probably  is being done to deal with low sales that happen in December as buyers  usually want a new model year vehicle.</p> <p>We are of the belief that Tata Motors should consider making this  discount a permanent deal and hence, officially reduce prices of all  versions of this crossover. If Tata does this, we can’t think of any  reason that might keep people from buying this upmarket Tata.</p>

It is the popular Indica hatchback that was the first vehicle from Tata  to sport a CR4 engine. This trend was then followed by the Indigo sedan.</p> <p>The CR4 engine delivers a power of adequate 84bhp and produces a good  torque output of 25.5kgm.Likewise,the 3-litre Direct Ignition motor  offers a power output of 69bhp at 3000rpm and 23kgm of torque at 1000 to  2000rpm. This difference of the efficiency between the two engines  alone speaks for the advancements Tata has made with the development of  the CR4 series. The MUV now boasts of better NVH levels.</p> <p>The car features a slightly updated look with basic design form  carried forward from the Sumo Victa. Talking about the exteriors, the  upgrades include a mildly tweaked front grille,headlamps and fog-lamps  and its interior feature a leather-wrapped 4 spoke steering wheel and  updated switches for HVAC controls and power windows. Tata says that the  seats have been made more comfortable.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>The vehicle is being in production at the company’s Bhosari plant.  The Sumo Gold will replace Sumo Victa. The Automotive Research  Association of India (ARAI) claims it gives 14.07 kmpl.</p> <p>According to R. Ramakrishnan, vice president, commercial – PCBU, Tata Motors “<em>We have improved the engine performance of the vehicle</em>“.  Sumo Gold will be battling it out with the Mahindra and Mahindra’s Bolero and the upcoming upgraded Chevrolet Tavera BS IV.</p> <p>With new engine and slight cosmetic changes, the dinosaur bones seem  to have to got a new lease of life and expect this people mover to  soldier on for a few more years to come.</p>

The collection  theme is inspired by a road trip which Rajesh undertook in the villages  of Orissa. Focusing on Ikat and handloom textile weaves, some of the  experiments are part of this collection. The show attempts to initiate a  dialogue and thought process on what is the relevance of handloom in  the country.  The theme of Rajesh’s collection will also be integrated  on two specially accessorized Tata Manzas, which will be the  show-stopper, on October 8, 2011 at the Wills India Fashion Week.</p> <p>According to Mr. Rajesh Pratap Singh, “It has been a pleasure and an  honour for me to be associated with the Tata Group, a proud Indian brand  with values that inspire everyone in the industry. Yes, another Nano caught fire  recently. This time the incident took place at Vadodara’s Subanpura  locality.  The car belonged to Mr Mayank Doshi and according to the Fire  Officials the engine of the Nano caught fire near the Samta police  outpost in Subnapura locality gutting down the front seat. <p>We have reported to you in the past such incidents where the Nano was  engulfed in fire. Till date there are 7 such cases and it is surely not  a small number. Tata should look forward and work towards what really  goes wrong as these cases are increasingly becoming common with the  Nano. What’s more, even Motoroids have been exclusively reported about a  car catching fire by its owner. We will bring you more news on this,  once we have some concrete evidence.</p> <p>We’re still not able to figure whether the car that caught fire was  ‘mended’ by Tata Motors for additional safety. It would be prudent to  recall that Tata Motors had asked all its customers to bring the Nano  back to the service stations so that the company could make some changes  to the vehicle for additional safety against fire. If the car that  caught fire rolled out after the recall exercise, or if it was already  treated for better safety, then it should be a serious concern among  current and prospective Nano buyers.</p> <p>We’ll try to get in touch with the owner, and bring you more information. Their recently introduced Indica eV2 hatch  has been rated at 25kmpl efficiency by ARAI, and lays claim to being the  most fuel efficient car in the country. Tata Motors are now keen to  take the efficiency game to a whole new level with the introduction of  the Nano diesel. According to some sources at Bosch, one of the largest  global component manufacturers, who are developing the diesel engine of  the Nano, the new car may go as much as 40km on every liter of diesel. <p>The car will be powered by a 700cc twin cylinder diesel engine. Small  in size, and reasonably torquey, the new engine should make the Nano,  dream to own for the economy conscious. Tata Motors wish to take the  fight directly to the Maruti Suzuki Alto, which is by far the largest  selling car in the country, and doesn’t have a diesel option.</p> <p>It’s notable that the prices of petrol have been spiraling through  the roof in the recent past. The disparity between the prices of petrol  and diesel is swinging the balance majorly in favour of diesel powered  cars. Suddenly diesel car sales are accounting for 50 percent sales for  models which offer both engines as options. Add to that the better  efficiency offered by a diesel car and the dirty fuel suddenly turns  into one of the most beautiful things in the world.</p> <p>Tata Motors plan to launch the Nano diesel in 2012. Expect it to change the rules of the game once and for all!</p>

Tata’s Nano-Indica straddler codenamed Dolphin

<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">The Nano project may not have been a bed of roses for Tata, especially  with chapters like being driven out of Singur in Bengal and some Nanos  catching fire. However, the auto major remains undeterred by problems  and is keen on making another small car which would slot in between the  Nano and the Indica. The new car will be comparable to the Suzuki Wagon  Rs and the Santros of the world and will most likely be priced at around  Rs 3-lakh on the road. If reports from NDTV are to be believed the car  has been codenamed as Dolphin, at least for the development phase.</div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: justify;">It’s  prudent for Tata to develop such a car for India as we know for a fact  that ever since the Nano project took off, small car makers like Maruti  and Hyundai have gone back to the drawing board to design and develop  cars that are cheaper than even the Santro and the Wagon R with  comparable engine specs, features and specs. The showromm obliged and they drove off towards LIC Colony in Mulund(W) where Satish stays.The duo drove off from Prabhadevi at 3pm and after crossing Bhandup reached the Navgher signal located on the Eastern Express highway around 40 minutes later. At the traffic stop, they were overtaken by a biker who signalled them to look towards the rear of the Nano. When Satish turned back, he saw the rear of the car was bellowing smoke as it had caught fire.</span></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Satish and the driver got out of the car immediately and are safe. While speaking to the media later on about the incident, Satish said that he had no idea about what had happened and didn't realize that the car was on fire until the passing biker pointed it out to him. This is not the first incident of Nano catching fire while being driven. We can only hope that this incident is the last.
